A CD. How quaint. We have these in museums. Eoin Colfer

Nostalgia has struck the teen set. Everyone in my household – and all of their friends and friend’s friends’ - has abandoned Fortnite for Minecraft servers in the past three months or so. Ask my 13yo, Nick, and he’...

As if living with three boys isn’t chaotic enough, imagine what it’s like when your youngest (Josh, age 7) has 14 “solo dubs” on Fortnite Battle Royale to his older brothers’ combined zero. Fathom the bickering over what strategy he used (does he “camp” until almost ev...

Thanks to the 2016 U.S. election cycle, media headlines about fake news are as inescapable as garlic in gazpacho. And that’s not a political statement – it’s simply a fact. Statista.com reports that Americans are exposed to more fake news than South Koreans, which seem...

In 2017, for the first time, charitable giving exceeded $400BN spurred by growth in all key areas of philanthropic measurement. Some additional facts:

  1. Americans are by-far the most generous country, giving about twice as much in percent of GDP than the next closest...

One month ago tomorrow, Nintendo announced Fortnite would be coming to the Switchconsole, which essentially means that Epic Games’ smash hit now supports cross-play between Xbox One, PC, Mac and Mobile – everyone except PlayStation. Sony’s defense of their widely-panne...

I was reading my journal recently and an entry from seven years ago with my then-five-year-old son stood out. Nick: “Mom, why do babies cry?” Me: “It’s their way of letting you know they need something.” Nick: “It’s annoying. Too bad they can’t send a text message.”

It...

Business Insider and The Daily Beast just posted articles asking if Gen Z could put Facebook out of business. The shortest answer I can provide is simply: yes. And Costco, Target, x/y/z cable company or financial services firm, and anyone else who fails to read the sig...

[Note: Three days after this blog went live, Fidelity Investments announced a VR app named Cora.]

I’ve been glad to see my LinkedIn news feed uncharacteristically busy with articles on augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) this week. Wednesday’s post...

The most interesting aspect of the Cambridge Analytica scandal is not Facebook had our data – we knew that. In 2010, Zuckerberg himself boldly declared: “Privacy is no longer a social norm.” What people are reacting to is Facebook clearly failed to meet minimum standar...

WELCOME TO JULIA C. CARREON

Digital Professional | Writer | Speaker | Gen Z Believer | Financial Services Executive

Gen Z is the first generation to grow up with the smartphone as their primary haptic memory, making them -- not Millennials -- the ultimate disruptors. Although still young, everyone is running out of time to appeal to this audience as both purchaser and employee. If I'm right, it means large companies have more time to build digital ecosystems able to support seamless omni-channel experiences. But the stakes are high when they do and deadly if they don't. In short, I write about #GenZDisruption.
